Tested by Tribulations
Throughout time we have seen how Allah SWT tests His beloved believers with various trials and tribulations. We find everyone is tested in different ways, some tests seeming harsher than others. However we are consoled by the words of our Lord:
“Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope.” [Al Baqarah; 286]
In this issue we have an exclusive interview with Omar Haq, the older brother of Asma Haq. Asma was only 8 ½ years old when she began her struggle with cancer. After a long and painful battle, which lasted 3 years, she passed away. Omar shares the torment and torture endured by him and his family.
We also see a glimpse of the tests that were imposed upon the Sahaaba, in the form of a biography of Asma bint Abu Bakr RA. This great generation was tested with all types of afflictions. Torture, imprisonment and even death were factors that contributed to laying down the foundations for future believers. These were seen as a small price to pay in exchange for every believers’ ultimate success – Paradise. They were seen as a means to reunite the created with their Creator.
Finally, in our In Focus section we discuss the mind and practical games that are being played to demonise Islam and the Muslims. What could and should be an innocent game is spiced up by introducing Shemaghs. I can honestly see the abandoning of games such as Cowboys and Indians or Cops and Robbers, in favour of Soldiers and Terrorists being played by children – thanks to the responsible people we have in positions of power.
We would very much appreciate your feedback and your supplications for all the believing men and women. We hope that you find benefit in this month’s issue.
Jazakumallah khair.
Was-salam,
Abu Khaalid
Ameer of Al-Istiqamah.
